About the Workshop

The international workshop “Innovative Assistive Technologies and Accessibility in Higher Education” is dedicated to the future of accessible education and the development of innovative assistive technologies.

The event is organised by AGH University of Krakow in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE).

It will take place on 12–13 November 2026 in Kraków, Poland.

The workshop is designed as a platform for international and national exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices in the field of accessibility in higher education.

It brings together:

  • academia,
  • technology experts,
  • designers,
  • public institutions,

creating a space where research meets practice and implementation.

A central goal of the workshop is to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

With the involvement of the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE), participants will have the opportunity to:

  • exchange experiences across countries and systems,
  • present solutions developed in diverse educational contexts,
  • build joint research and innovation initiatives,
  • expand international professional networks.

At the same time, the workshop supports national cooperation by connecting stakeholders from universities, public institutions, and organisations working in the field of accessibility.

  • accessibility of higher education,
  • accessibility of student services,
  • pedagogical and digital accessibility,
  • support models for students with disabilities,
  • assistive technologies,
  • AI applications in accessibility,
  • universal design and inclusive education.

  • keynote and expert talks,
  • panel discussions,
  • research and project presentations,
  • poster sessions,
  • networking opportunities.

  • Day 2 (14 November): paid participation 

Participation in Day 2 of the workshop is subject to a registration fee. The fee covers catering and organisational costs.

A differentiated fee structure applies depending on membership in the AAATE as well as the registration period.

Abstract Requirements

  • Length: 0.5 to maximum 1 A4 page
  • Word limit: approximately 200–350 words (excluding title, authors, and keywords)
  • Language: English
  • File format: .doc or .docx (Microsoft Word)

Formatting Guidelines

Please prepare your abstract according to the following formatting rules:

  • Font: Calibri or Arial, 11–12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.15 or 1.5
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Alignment: Justified

Structure of the Abstract

The submission should include the following elements:

Title

Short and precise, written in bold.

Authors and Affiliation

Full names of all authors, institutional affiliation, country, and e-mail address of the corresponding author.

Main Text

The abstract should contain:

  • Introduction and Aim – background and objective of the study
  • Methodology – methods, tools, participants, or theoretical approach used
  • Results – key findings or outcomes
  • Conclusions – significance of the work and its contribution to the field

Keywords

Please provide 3–5 keywords separated by commas.
